The Mass of Beatification will be broadcast and livestreamed.

He spent his life speaking to people he could not see, through a microphone and then a camera, and the whole of his ministry rested on the conviction that distance is no obstacle to the Gospel. It seems right that most of the world will meet his beatification the same way he met the world.

Where to watch

  • The official livestream. The organisers have confirmed that the Mass will be livestreamed. The link is published on the official beatification site as the day approaches.
  • EWTN carries the day across its television, radio and streaming channels, in several languages.
  • CatholicTV has announced coverage and is taking sign-ups for a reminder before the livestream begins.
  • The Cathedral of St. Mary in Peoria streams the Mass locally between 1 and 4 p.m. Central, for those who would rather keep the day in the church where he was ordained and where he is buried.

Keeping the day at a distance

Watching is not the only way to be present. If the Mass falls in the middle of your working day, or at three in the morning, these are the ways people have kept such days for centuries.

  • Pray the nine days before. The novena runs from 15 to 23 September and can be prayed anywhere. The novena →

  • Keep a Holy Hour. He kept one every day for sixty years without missing it. There is no more fitting way to mark the day.
