An Important Note
Fulton Sheen is not yet a saint, and the Church asks us to be careful about that.
He holds the title Venerable. It means Rome has examined his life closely and judged that he practised the Christian virtues to a heroic degree. That is a serious and public judgment of the Church. But it is not beatification, and it does not yet permit what the Church calls public veneration.
The distinction is simpler than it sounds.
What the Church does not yet permit. He may not be honoured in the liturgy. There is no feast day, no Mass or Divine Office in his honour, no relic exposed for public veneration, and no image of him with a halo set up to be venerated in a church. He should not be addressed as Saint or as Blessed.
What the Church does permit, and warmly encourages. Private prayer. You may ask God for favours through his intercession: on your own, with your family, or with a prayer group. The prayers gathered here are offered for exactly that purpose, and each is intended for private devotion.
The Church draws this line not to hold anyone back, but to keep two things clear at the same time. She has not yet spoken her final word. And she genuinely wants you to ask.
Why Your Prayer Matters Now
Here is the part worth understanding.
The miracle required for a beatification, and then the second miracle required for a canonization, come about in one way only. Someone prays, by name, for a particular need, and God answers. When the Church later examines such a case, her theologians look for evidence that this candidate was invoked specifically, for this intention.
Devotion is not decoration on a cause. It is the engine of it.
The little boy whose recovery opened the way to this beatification, James Fulton Engstrom, was prayed for by name. That is how these things happen.
If You Receive a Favour
If you believe you have received a grace through the intercession of Venerable Fulton Sheen, whether a healing, help in a crisis, or a conversion, please make it known. Unreported favours cannot be examined, and a cause moves forward on what the Church can actually see.
What Comes on 24 September 2026
On that day Venerable Fulton Sheen will become Blessed Fulton Sheen. Public veneration will be permitted for the first time, and he will be given a place in the liturgical calendar.
Until then, pray freely, pray by name, and pray at home.
